The Squad Cruises In To Bye Week Tied For First
by Chris Iannantuoni

With significant pieces of their team, as well as their coach, out of town, the MODSquad looked to its “B Squad” to enter the bye week with a share of first place; and that’s exactly what they did!
The game got off to a slow start with returning pitcher Joel giving up three runs on a bunch of weakly hit singles. However, Big Joel settled in and only allowed two runs the rest of the way.
The night was signified by outstanding defense and timely hitting. Several outstanding plays made on the infield helped squash any attempts at rallies during a few late innings. And with some key advance game scouting, the outfield defense seemed to always be in the right place at the right time.
MODSquad heads into its second bye week on the schedule and hopefully after the break they will pick up where they left off; with a full squad.
Happy Recap, Mods Discard Back Monkey, Sip Pernod from Loving Cup

Sweltering heat and jello like atmosphere could not keep a steady parade of timely hits and excellent defense as the squad prevailed over the Pernod ten.
Joel "Verlander" held the 'Nods to a few basehits and kept them off the bases with no walks as junior, called in to play SS, made it look easy, assisting on at least 8 outs, while Geoff at first base made some
tremendous scoops.
The outfield made all the plays and Felix made an eye popping fully extended over the shoulder grab to save a few runs. The left fielder was thankful, due to a late evening the night before, that the 'Nods kept trying to go the other way all game.
The final 8-5 tally revealed good defense for both teams, and the 'Squad chipped away with runs in every inning but one. The angry cartoonists practiced before the game, and it was entertaining to see them lollygagging after balls in the equatorial climate that is White Plains at this time of year. They kept us from doing something stupid like trying to practice.
All shared in making this game a wake up call to the bathtub gin distillers, it sent the message that we are not the walkover we appeared to be in the first two tilts.
So, to those who missed the game due to a drunken junket in Florida, those who stayed and took the field while you were doing your best imitation of Hunter Thompson, rest assured that we have set the stage for your arrival to participate in the next game
