The "Boys in Purple" ended their two game slide with a 10-6 win over Amscan last night. Frank Vitale pitched a complete game to earn his first career victory on the mound.

Not only did Vitale pitch well, he often flashed some leather, looking like a young Greg Maddux on the hill. Vitale caught a handful of line drives back to the mound and even assisted on a routine 8-4-1-3 double play.
Vitale said he received some much needed fielding pointers from former Modsquad Ace Todd Dias before the game; "He told me to put the glove in front of my face if there was a ball hit back to me".
Eric Klein had a monster game at the plate. Klein cleared the bases in the second inning with a triple, and finished the day with four runs batted in.
Bobby Pezzullo continued to raise his OBP, thanks to drawing two walks. He also scored two runs in the game.
The top of the lineup (Dias, Lima, DiFranza) combined to have a nice game (6-11, 5 runs, 2 RBI).
The team's resident umpire killer, Julio Gonzalez, continued to impress. Gonzalez drove in a run in the first inning and almost decapitated the home plate umpire (with a bat) in the process.
With the exception of a lazy fourth inning (Amscan scored six runs) the Squad is starting to look like a team that won the Championship last season.
The Modsquad is expecting the return of longtime ace "Big Joel" in the coming weeks, and after an extended trip to the Vacation DL, Mr. 100 Chris Iannantuoni will return to the lineup. Kyle Bobek is expected back in the lineup after a two game absence thanks to a brief visit back to the Motherland (Minnesota). Ex-Skipper Alan Brogdon expects to be back in the lineup next week as he recovers from a freak calf injury. Chris Lima is still bothered by a sore hamstring, all signs point to a full recovery by the end of the month.
2B - Lima, Dias
3B - Klein
