In the first meeting between the league's two biggest rivals, both squads failed to disappoint in a game that came down to the wire.
The Modsquad, trailing the entire game, tied and won the game in the bottom of the seventh, thanks to some late game hitting from the top of the lineup.
Chris Iannantuoni led off the seventh with a single to right field and was moved into scoring position after Todd Dias drew a five pitch walk. Chris Lima drove in the tying run with a base hit to left and Dias moved to third on the throw home. Big Joel won the game with a sacrifice fly to left field, giving the Modsquad a 7-6 victory.
Alfrin Vallejo continued his hot start to the season, collecting three hits including a triple that rocked the crowd on hand.
The "Boys in Purple" followed Modsquad Soothsayer John Leahy's advice (dispensed at the beginning of the game) "I don't think we should do anything early in the game. Let's just wait until the end and score all of our runs. It's more exciting that way".
The Squad defensively had Jekyll and Hyde moments throughout the entire game. Lima had mutliple miscues at short costing the Squad a couple runs in the third inning while a couple of dropped balls and missed cutoffs in the outfield helped give Blue Sky a few more freebie runs. On the other hand, Alan Brogdon was exceptional at the hot corner and Lima made a game changing play in the top of the seventh inning.
Brogdon collected two key hits and Iannantuoni and Lima each added two knocks of their own.
In a post game email sent to the team, Modsquad owner Frank Vitale had this to say about the 'Squad's late inning comeback win:

That was a sweet win, guys. You kept them close, supported and encouraged each other, and turned on the heat when you needed to!
