After three long weeks without a softball game, it took the Modsquad a couple of innings to shake off the rust.
Through no fault of the Modsquad, Jackson Lewis collected ten runs in the first inning (one coming off the Modsquad’s lone error in the game).
“Those guys were just hitting singles, and there wasn’t anything we could have done differently to stop it,” said Modsquad manager Alan Brogdon.
The Modsquad, after scoring only three runs in the first three innings, battled back late in the game, thanks to a fine
offensive performance by John Leahy, Big Joel, Skipper Brogdon, and the hot hitting Frank Vitale. Combined, they collected fifteen hits and drove in seven runs.
Modsquad outfielder Chris Lima was placed on the two day disabled list with a bruised ego after striking out in his first at bat. Not the third strike foul ball variety, but the good ol’fashioned swing and a miss strike three sit down you suck version.
Thankfully, there wasn’t any holes in his glove (just his swing) as he made a handful of nice plays in the outfield.

“I’m not looking forward to how the website is going to treat the strikeout,” said Lima, “I saw what they did to Dias’ fly ball, so this should be pretty brutal”.
The Modsquad got some good news on the medical front; Alfrin Vallejo looked excellent running the bases last night, and reported that his surgically repaired legs felt great.
Modsquad’s next game is Friday night at 5:45 against Blue Sky.
2B - Leahy 2 (2), Bobek 1 (1)
3B - Leahy 1 (2), Vallejo 1 (1)
