Age Old Question

Special Modsquad Report

There comes a time in a young man's life when he has to make a choice; one that will shape his future forever.

This choice will determine what type person he'll become. It'll shape his summer days and his fall nights for the rest of his life. It'll change the way he views the world; through rosey colored glasses or deep, mistrusting, bitter eyes.

The choice I'm referring to, of course, is which team he'll wind up cheering on; the Mets or the Yankees.

Much has been made of the Yankee/Mets debate between members of the loveable Modsquad Softball team. Vallejo is constantly being ridiculed for his decision to wear a Mets hat to the games and DiFranza always finds himself in a position to defend A-Rod.

What if the Yankees/Mets debate could be settled by a numerical analysis?

Yeah, we didn't think we knew how to spell "numerical analysis" either.

Yankee Fans (Dias, Lima, DiFranza, Klein) vs Mets Fans (Iannantuoni, Vallejo, Big Joel, Pezzullo).

Batting: At first glance, the Bomber Fans are just that; Bombers. Combined, the Pinstripe Pals have 21 hits, 20 rbis, and three longballs. The Mets Musketeers have 13 hits and 9 rbis. Mets fans will argue that they're batting lower in the lineup, with less chances at rbi opportunities than the Yankee Fans, and they're right to complain. They're Mets fans, that's what they're good at.

Fielding: The Mets fans have one of the team's best outfielders in Iannantuoni, who has made several eye popping catches and leads the team in runners thrown out. Vallejo and Joel have fielded their positions well and Pezzullo has improved defensively behind the plate. The Pinstripe side of things would have matched up considerably well against the Mets Fans, had it not been for Dias' mishap in the Modsquad win over JH Cohen (I wasn't there, but I heard it was reminiscent of Jose Canseco attempting to catch a fly ball).

Pitching: Hands down, without a doubt, the Mets fans win this argument. Big Joel has been dominating this season, allowing only one run (which would never had scored if it weren't for Dias) through fifteen innings.

Base Running: While Vallejo continues to do his best impersonation of Carlos Beltran running the bases and Lima continues to lose speed every passing day, the true measure of excellent base running is the ability to cross the plate. The Bombers lead this category 20-12, with Lima leading the pack (8 runs scored).

So, to recap, it looks like we're in a dead tie with each set of fans winning two categories a piece.

This debate will likely continue to rage on in the Modsquad dugout throughout the remainder of the season.

With another article of useless reporting, I'm James Halpert; Modsqaud Reporter.
