As you heard we were short at the start, we only had 8 guys and we knew one was on the way. The ump said we needed to have 9 before the 2nd inning started or we’d forfeit.
I think Nick texted Alan and he came rushing to the game. When we started in the field we only had 3 infielders with no 2nd baseman and only 3 in the outfield.
I pitched slowly taking time between pitches and throwing lots of balls including walking a few batters on purpose when 1st base was open.
We ate up a lot of time and only allowed 4 runs doing that. Then by the time we were starting to bat Alan showed up giving us 9 so we didn’t have to forfeit. We then proceeded to bat around almost twice and scored seven runs in the bottom of the 1st. By the end of batting around our 10th guy finally made it. When we put 10 guys in the field starting in the top of the 2nd we basically shut them down only allowing 2 more runs in the next 4 innings.
We kept on with the timely hitting adding to our lead each inning until we got ahead by 12 after 5. Roger and Chris I put in solid efforts in the outfield making some nice catches including a sliding catch by Roger in foul territory.
Todd practiced self preservation catching 2 comebackers that would have surely left a mark, fielded two grounders in a row that he shoveled over to Kyle, and caught 1 infield pop up so I accounted for 1/3 of all the outs.
Kyle played solid 1st base including catching a couple missiles from Nick on balls he fielded deep in the hole. Blah blah blah that’s about all I can think of.
If you want to mention fans Christine was there, Amy was there, and Naomi Delacruz came with her husband.
