Championship hangover?

Nope.

The Modsquad began its quest to defend the Championship Crown by dismantling Amscan by a score of 31-1.

The Modsquad bats came out swinging in the first inning, tallying eleven runs thanks to great situational hitting and excellent baserunning.

2010 Pitcher of the Year "Big Joel" shut down Amscan bats throughout the entire game, allowing only two balls to be hit into the outfield. Nick DiFranza starred in the field, taking care of over 85% of the outs in the game (defensively).

Leading the way on offense was Alfrin Vallejo, who managed to drive in five runner on three hits. Chris Lima (3 RBI) and DiFranza (5 RBI) each collected five hits, while Chris Ianantuoni, Alan Brogdon, and Todd Dias each collected three.

The win for the Modsquad was the first for new team owner and manager Frank Vitale. In an email obtained by this Modsquad Reporter, Vitale addressed the team after the game, stating:

Congratulations on a great game. You hit well, and fielded well and were awesome. Hats off to Coach Brogdan who assembled a group of talented, hard playing guys. Celebrate. You deserve it.
