In the opening round of the 2010 playoffs, the "Boys in Purple" advanced to the Championship Game in walk off fashion last night, beating Blue Sky 7-6.
With one out and a runner on first, Nick DiFranza scored on a ground ball hit to center field and was mobbed by his teammates, who were waiting for him at home plate.
The Modsquad rallied twice in the game, initially down by three runs early on and found themselves trailing by two later on.
Strong defense, timely hitting, and a solid pitching performance were the key ingredients to the Modsquad's victory and first appearance in the Championship Game since 2008.
With the game tied at six in the top of the seventh inning, Blue Sky sent their three best hitters to the plate. Big Joel, early season favorite for the Cy Young Award, was able to retire them all, with Alan Brogdon's diving snag securing the final out of the inning.
Chris Iannantuoni led the offensive charge collecting three hits and driving in two (including the equalizer in the bottom of the sixth) and Nick DiFranza added two hits and drove in one runner. The Modsquad's sweet swinging lefty Greg, blasted two run home run in the third and drove in the game winning run in the bottom of the seventh.

The Modsquad would like to thank their fans for their continued support throughout the season. Last night's playoff game featured the season ticket holders, some returning customers, and the Iannantuoni Luxury Box hugging the left field line.
Modsquad will face Jackson Lewis twice (5:45, 7:00) on Friday in a best of three Championship Game.
