The Boys in Purple kept up their winning ways, dismantling Dunnes Pub 19-0.
Continuing his success on the mound from last week, Modsquad ace Joel Abramson extended his scoreless streak to ten innings, notching a second consecutive shutout.
Eric Klein and Frank Vitale led the offensive onslaught;
Klein went 3-3 with 3 RBIs and was a home run short of the cycle, and Vitale went 3-4, driving in four runs.
The night was marked with solid defense, with numerous plays worthy of making a Sports Center Top Ten reel. Chris Iannantuoni gunned down a runner trying to tag on a fly ball to center, Mike Lima (coming out of a two year Modsquad retirement) make a great defensive play at first, and Frank
"Twinkle Toes" Vitale (as named by one of the fans) made some strong plays around the bag at second.
Todd Dias extended his hot start at the plate with a four hit ball game (also a homer short of the cycle) as he collected two triples and drove in two. Chris Lima added three RBIs to up his season total to seven.
The injury bug started to work its way into the Modsquad
dugout as Scott Berns and Vince Sampugnaro each complained of stiffness/soreness in their legs. The team Physician Assistant, instead of looking into their complaints, decided to take a photo of the two poor souls attempting to administer their own brand of medicine.
She calls this photo "Opening Night at the Nutcracker".
